PU VC stresses modernization of social work education in Pakistan

Lahore: (Wednesday, October 29, 2025): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali held a meeting with a delegation comprising Program Director, University of Bradford Dr Samina Karim, Head of Child Protection Punjab, UNICEF Ms. Zahida, CEO, Center for Regional Policy and Dialogue – CRPD Mr. Mehran Wazir, Policy Specialist, CRPD, Dr Khadim Hussain, Researcher, University of Bradford Dr Ilam Khan along with Chairperson Department of Social Work Prof Dr Uzma Ashiq and faculty members. The delegation shared details of the collaborative project on “Strengthening of Social Work Education in Pakistan”, jointly undertaken by UNICEF, the University of Bradford, the Department of Social Work University of the Punjab and CRPD. PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali appreciated the initiative and emphasized its significance for the development and modernization of Social Work education in Pakistan. Dr Uzma said that the project aims to enhance academic standards, strengthen field-based learning, and promote evidence-driven policy and practice. She said that under the visionary leadership of Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, this collaboration will serve as a model for institutional growth, global academic partnerships, and community engagement. It represents a vital step toward empowering future social workers to effectively address social issues and contribute to sustainable social development, she added.
