PU CEMB signs MoU with Rachna Agribusiness

LAHORE: (Wednesday, September 17, 2025): Punjab University Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rachna Agribusiness for the dissemination and commercialization of its indigenously developed Cotton CKC Technology. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s cotton sector through innovative biotechnological solutions. In this regard a signing ceremony was held at PU VC’s office. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, CEMB Director Prof Moazur Rahman and officials from Rachna Agribusiness were present. In his address, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali appreciated the academia–industry linkage and emphasized the need to extend such collaborations to other crops in order to contribute to Pakistan’s agricultural landscape. Prof Dr Moazur Rahman said that developed by CEMB scientists, the Cotton CKC technology is aimed at enhancing crop resilience and improving productivity, ensuring sustainable cotton production in the country. He highlighted that the partnership will facilitate the transfer of research to the field, directly benefiting farmers through improved cotton seed technology. Officials from Rachna Agribusiness expressed their commitment to working closely with CEMB for large-scale dissemination and farmer outreach. This agreement is part of CEMB’s broader mission to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and agribusiness, thereby contributing to the development of Pakistan’s cotton sector and strengthening the textile economy.
