Workshop on "Working with 3D tumor Spheroids"


Cancer Biology Lab of Punjab University Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics (MMG) has organized a workshop on Assays in Cancer Biology-Hands-on training & Working with 3D tumor Spheroids on 3 December 2019, Tuesday. Workshop was organized by Naila Shoaib, Muniba Bashir, Arifa Ashraf and HabzaRuatt (M. phil Scholars) under the supervision of Dr. Nousheen Zaidi (Associate Prof. at MMG), and the instructors were Ramsha Munir (PhD Scholar) and Farhad Ali Shah (M. phil Scholar). There were total 15 participants in this workshop event.
The event started at 2pm byintroductory lecture of Associate Prof. Nousheen Zehra Zaidi on working with cancer cells, 2D & 3D tumor spheroids and the importance of 3D models to study tumor metabolism. Then a short video session onWorking with 3D tumor Spheroids was attended by the participants. The protocol of forming tumor spheroids was performed in front of participants and then they were asked to practiced it by their own. This hands-on training was the part of learning activities. At the end of the event, about 5:30 pm, participants were awarded with certificates and served with Hi-Tea. It has been seen by the response of participants that the event was full of interesting as well as new knowledge.
