A team of Scientists (Prof. Zhu, Dr. Wu, Mr. Yuan, Mr. Xu and others) along with honorable Vice Chancellor Prof, Dr. Li Fei from Wuhan University visited the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, University of the Punjab on 12th October, 2019 to see the hybrid rice breeding field. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Wuhan University was very impressed regarding the performance of Honglian type hybrid rice varieties in Pakistan. After this the honorable Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Prof, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar briefly introduced the activities at Punjab University and said that Punjab University would play its role for betterment of society. He said that PU was promoting such research projects which would have positive impact on society and country. IAGS Prof Dr Saleem Haider said that PU conducting experiments for the hybrid breeding of rice at local level for its adaptation. He said that this hybrid breeding of rice in Pakistan would bring revolution in agriculture sector and would strengthen academia-industry linkages. On the other hand, Prof, Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider briefly introduced the research activities at IAGS department and Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq shared the data regarding the performance of hybrid rice varieties with honorable Vice Chancellor of Wuhan University Prof, Dr. Li Fei and other Chinese delegation. In this regard, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali, students and other Scientists of IAGS participated in the meeting. Later, the honorable Vice Chancellor of Wuhan University Prof Dr. Li Fei planted the tree at IAGS lawn along with honorable Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Prof, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar and other Scientists were present at that time. Chinese delegation also visited the research labs and appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. M. Saleem Haider and his team.
